NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review + Swatches
07:30:00
When NYX came into Boots I was so excited to give some new products a go. NYX has always been a brand that I have favoured because of the pigmentation and quality of the products. The lip products are always highly raved about by many people and with a huge range out there I had to give them a go. The ones that I love the most are definitely the Soft Matte Lip Creams. They are incredibly pigmented yet feel so comfortable to wear. They're not too drying and they don't flake off during the day. They're one of the few liquid formula lip products that last well throughout the day and even after eating.
Cannes
This is my favourite out of all the colours I own. It's a light nudey brown which I like because it's a neutral colour that I can wear daily with any outfit. Unlike other brands, this nude does give a good pay off and you don't need to add layers and layers of product for it to stand out. It's the least streaky and it stays like that for hours after. I've noticed that this lip colour looks different on different people which is something to take into consideration if you're ordering online.
Prague
Prague is a beautiful deep rosey pink. The colour reminds me of a berry smoothie. This is definitely a colour to wear all year round as it's dark enough to wear in the colder months but adds that bright pop of colour in the Spring/Summer. I've also tried this topped with Cannes and it looks gorgeous.
Budapest
This was a colour that was so hard to get hold of! When my friend and I first went into Boots, we both loved the colour but they had none in stock other than the tester! We hunted around so many different stores to try and find it but most of the Boots don't even stock the colour! So we ended up buying it off ASOS. This is essentially a darker version of Cannes. This applies slightly streaky in the swatch below but on the lips you can't tell at all.
Copenhagen
A cult favourite; Copenhagen. I have seen so many reviews on this lip colour! It's a deep brown/maroon colour. Weirdly, I have to layer this up slightly to get a good colour pay off and I do find that is fairly streaky, as you can see by the swatch. I swatched this in the same way as the others to give you a true representation of what it's like. Unlike Budapest, I notice the streaks on my lips too and I do tend to apply a few layers to get the desired look. The colour is a typical Autumnal, Gothic colour that makes your teeth look whiter! I find it's actually a lot lighter than the bottle shows and lighter than many of the swatches I have seen on Google. But still a beautiful colour, especially for this time of year.
I'd love to add to my collection - what are your favourite shades?
