Finding Motivation To Stay Fit

07:00:00

I've always had a love-hate relationship with fitness and even now I go days without working out. But there are a few things that I have found to really help me get going so I thought I'd help inspire you! I recently got back into the gym, mainly because whilest working 9-5 I get very lazy to come home and do a workout - but it can be done, so don't feel the pressure to join! I still have a lot of work to do to be more confident in my body but I'm trying my very hardest to stop being so lazy and do something about it!

Working out at home can be fun!
A lot of people are under the assumption that to get fit, you need to join the gym. Which is nonsense! It's so easy to find free workout videos on YouTube these days and all you really need is a bit of motivation. I personally love Blogilates.. I've spoken about using this website before, but Casey  Ho really does put a lot of effort into her videos on YouTube and she helps you out with free (when subscribing) workout calendars that make working out a whole lot easier and so much fun. I've found my stamina and strength has improved tremendously since I've been doing her workouts! If you're not sure what moves you should be doing or what inspiration then  it's definitely worth checking out her videos. I also find XHit Daily and FitnessBlender are great YouTube channels too.

Find the right protein shake for you.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know what protein shake is the right protein shake, because quite frankly, I don't. But if you are keen about gaining muscle or being healthy, it's worth checking out what's out there. My advice is to read articles that aren't trying to sell you the product so you don't get a biased view. It goes without saying that different protein powders do different things, so decide what you want it to do before you go and purchase the one with the best variety of flavours! Once you know what protein powders you want to have, I recommend going to MyProtein.com, their stuff is affordable and they have a variety of products and flavours - plus they almost always have some sort of discounts running.

Keep a Workout Journal/Diary
This is something that I've just started doing this year and I find that it keeps me on track and helps motivate me to increase weights/reps. When I'm at the gym I use the notes app on my phone to document the exercise, reps and weights used for each session. Then when I get home I write this in a Workout Journal (I just use a pretty notebook, nothing fancy!). My plan is to review this at the end of every month and try to improve by increasing weights/reps etc. I sometimes find that I stick to my comfort zone when it comes to working out and don't push myself hard enough, but since journalising my workouts, I've found that I am trying new workouts and going that extra mile!

Workout Gear
I know it sounds ridiculous, but whenever I buy new workout clothes I always want to hit the gym to wear it! Now that it's January and everyone is looking to lose that Christmas weight, a lot of retailers are selling some really stylish workout gear. I like to buy my workout clothes from Forever 21 because they're very good quality and their styles are always so flattering and pretty. I've noticed that H&M, New Look and even Primark have been promoting their workout lines recently - personally I'm not a fan of the Primark range, but for the price; it's a good place to start.

I hope these tips help you to stay on target with your fitness routine - remember, staying fit isn't about losing weight, but keeping healthy and feeling great! I would love to know what tips you may have!

Love Always,
Neelam xx

  1. I actually like the sports bras at Forever 21. They're cute and stylish. I agree about working out at home. I used to go to the gym since I was always close to one all of the time no matter where I went because they had literally hundreds of locations. I still go, but now I stream from time to time since I stopped driving and moved. Great post. :)
