The Battle of Brow Pomades..

07:30:00

Brow Pomades have become a huge hit across the beauty world over the past few years with everyone jumping on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. But with drugstore companies catching on to this trend, they themselves have released their version of brow pomades. If you remember a while back I did a post about the Freedom Pro Pomade products and as promised I will compare these to the ABH dipbrow pomades.
Packaging
When you look at the packaging of both these products you can see that other than the company name, they are almost identical. They are a flat cylindrical shape with a glass base and a black, plastic, screw-top lid. The estimated weight of the Freedom eyebrow Pomade is 2.5g compared to the Net Weight of the ABH Dipbrow pomade of 4.0g. There is definitely a luxurious feel to both the products, with the heavy weighted base which I love! They also both keep the product relatively fresh but I will go more into that later.
Colour
Again, the reason why I purchased the Freedom pomade was because I needed a different colour change. But actually, it didn't take me long to realise that the products are both very similar in colour! The Freedom pomade is  slightly warmer and you do have to build up the product a little in order to get the same colour as the ABH pomade; as you can see in the swatch comparison photo, the individual line swatch of each the ABH is much darker and more pigmented. However on the brows, it's not such a noticeable difference! But otherwise they are both kind of a nice dark brown shade that doesn't appear too ashy, but still gives a nice natural look.

Formula
Now I have always been impressed by the ABH Dipbrow pomade and the amazing formula. It's creamy yet pigmented and really easy to work with. It's one of those products that a little really does go a long way which means the product can last you a really long time! When I purchased the Freedom Brow Pomade I was surprised at how well the product mimicked the ABH pomade. The ABH pomade is just slightly more creamy and therefore easier to work with - but that's just me being critical! They both leave your brows still feeling like brows and don't give a crunchy finish like a lot of brow gels sometimes do! The sheer nature of the product means that it can sometimes dry out slightly making it harder to pick up product. I found with the ABH pomade that after months of daily use, the product became harder to work with as I was digging in the same spot of the product - however, if you mix the product around, allowing you to warm it up and get it to it's normal consistency it works absolutely fine! I haven't had my Freedom Pomade for nearly as long but I imagine the same thing will happen as there is a crack down the centre of the pomade which shows it does dry up.

Lasting power

Both the formulas last a long time, I'd say that the ABH pomade may last a little longer but there could be other factors that affect that. I find that I can go a whole day with both the brow pomades and still have a decent coverage at the end of the day. The inner part of my brows are usually the areas that would wear off first, mainly because I get quite an oily T-Zone and sometimes this causes the pomades to break down and wear off. However, both are compatible with brow gels and that usually works well in making them last even longer.

Overall, the Freedom Brow Pomade £5 is a definite dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade £15. You do get more product in the ABH dipbrow but in terms of the actual product, they perform virtually the same!

I hope you enjoyed this post, please let me know down below which you prefer!

Love Always,
