Superdrug 3for2 | Beauty Haul #7

19:36:00

I've been really good this year and haven't bought much make-up, but there are a lot of new products out there at the moment that I really want to give a go, so when Superdrug had their 3 for 2 mix and match on beauty products, I couldn't resist.

I've needed a retractable brush for such a long time now. I have a small e.l.f. powder brush that I put in my make-up bag, but it gets so dirty and mucky that I hate using it. So I thought a retractable brush would be perfect especially by a brand that I love so much. This brush is as equally as soft as the other brushes in the range and the quality is noticeably good. I like that it's nice and compact and perfect to dash in my make-up bag. I hope that when cleaning it the packaging doesn't get ruined with the water, I'm sure it won't.

This was one of those 'YouTube made me buy it' purchases. Kaushal, from Kaushal Beauty has been praising this mascara for what feels like months now and it's easy to see why. Whenever she applies this her lashes look long and fluttery, which is what I need in a mascara. I have a few that I'm testing out at the moment but as soon as they begin to dry, I will definitely be giving this mascara a go.
3) BOURJOIS VELVET ROUGE EDITION VELVET LIPSTICK - £8.99
I already have one of these lippies in the shade 07 Nude-ist, where I did a post about how much I loved it!  So I thought it was about time that I got some new shades, I decided to get Ole Flamingo 05 and So Hap'pink 11. I know that some people have found that the the nudes aren't as good as the brighter colours but I like them both equally. Of course the brighter colours have more of an impact purely due to the colour and not because of the formula. The lasting power of these lipsticks are amazing, I wore Ole Flamingo quite a few times and have found that I don't really need to top up throughout the day so much. I do find sometimes it will cling to my dry patches, but if I exfoliate my lips well beforehand then it works well.

4) OLAY RADIANCE ILLUMINATOR - £9.99 £4.95
Lastly, is this illuminator by Olay. Now I don't actually remember putting this in my bag and on the delivery note, this item isn't on there - so either they accidentally packed this product in here or they gave it as a freebie, either way I'm excited to give it a go.
My friend at work is in love with the formula of these nail polishes, and while I'm not entirely convinced, I do like the finish of the nail polish. They last longer than my usual nail polishes if you apply them correctly, which of course is a big bonus. I think I need to test this nail polish out a bit more and do a proper test on it as they claim to give you shine for up to 14 days, a big claim to make! I will keep you updated!
I have never really been that good with contouring, I tend to find that my natural contours are quite unflattering and when I try to fake them, they age me to the extent that I end up looking like my madre. But I thought that I would give it another go with the cream to powder contour palette and start practising a little bit more. I feel like cream contouring will be much easier to blend through and work into the skin - plus it's easier to correct when it goes horribly wrong. There's a nice range of colours in this palette which reminds me of the high end options out there. (How annoying is it that I dropped my camera in this palette after taking the first picture - #bloggerproblems).

7) L'OREAL NUDE MAGIQUE BB CREAM - MEDIUM - £9.99
I actually tested this out in the shops and I was mesmerised at how the white pearly substance blended into a tinted moisturiser like consistency. It's a nice concept and claims to do a hell of a lot. Unfortunately the colour isn't a good match for me, and with only 2/3 out on the market I don't think I'll be able to find a better fit. But I will give it a test to see how well it does at the things it claims - keep an eye out for that!
I already have the contour kit by Sleek (review post) and this product is pretty much the same with a bronzer/blush included. I love the quality of the Sleek face products, they're so pigmented and not chalky at all! I have the contour kit in light, so having this medium trio means I'm able to wear it all year round. The contour shade is actually quite dark for me, but a small amount will give me the perfect contour look. I also like the highlighter shade in this palette, as the contour kit mentioned before had a highlighter that didn't really compliment my skin that well. I doubt I will get much use out of the blush/bronzer shade as it's definitely more of a bronzer colour for me but far too shimmery. I may be able to get away with using it with a fan brush and lightly dusting it over my skin.

I've recently fallen back in love with using make-up fixing sprays. I've had my NYX Matte finish setting spray for what feels like ages but it's almost coming to an end and I really wanted to try out the L'oreal infallible fixing mist. One of my best friends uses this spray and has nothing but good things to say about it - and her make-up always looks good! So I thought I would give it a try, I know that you have to really shake it well so that you don't get white powder mark spluttered across your face, but I'm interested to see how well it compares to my NYX one.

I have a lot of new and exciting products to try out and I can't wait to let you know how I've been finding them. If you have any preference as to what I should test out first then please let me know!

Love always,

Neelam xx

  1. 3 for 2 is very hard to resist! You will love the loreal spray, just be sure to give it a good shake before using it, otherwise it leaves you with white marks!

  2. I love the Sleek face form kit but do wish the blush from the lighter shades was in it instead of the bronzer - I never use the one from mine either :( xx

    1. Yeah, I don't really go for shimmery bronzers! I was hoping I could use a small amount as a highlighter but I think it's just too pigmented! Xxx
